Dissemination and Communication -
Collaborative Research Tools and Platforms
Activity 2.1 in the INFOBIOMED work plan aims at identifying and
developing the collaborative tools and platforms addressed to
support the sharing and discussion of data among researchers in the
area of Biomedical Informatics (BMI), as well as in the closely
related areas of Medical Informatics (MI) and Bioinformatics
(BI).
With this purpose, INFOBIOMED offers free access to three
resources:
- Survey on collaborative research tools and platforms, both
existing and needed. Click here to download the document with
survey results.
- Access to the LINK3D application.
An interoperable (Windows, Linux, IRIX), real-time collaborative
software that allows users to share files, exchange chat
messages and audio and directly interact (point, move, rotate,
write, etc.) with a variety of graphical objects dynamically,
all of it in a secure way and with moderate bandwidth
requirements. It supports the most common file formats used in
drug discovery and development, including 3D and 2D graphics,
text and bitmaps. Academic licenses of LINK3D can be freely
downloaded from here.
- Repository of other existing tools of relevance for
facilitating collaborative research in the BMI field.
Want to comment on the survey
results? Tried LINK3D and found a bug, or missed some functionality?
Want to contribute one or more applications to the repository? We
need your feedback.
Please help us to improve. Experiences, case
studies and any additional information on collaborative research
tools and platforms, particularly in the area of BMI, are very
welcome.
